Love the place you live? Find out if your home town topped Rightmove's 'Happy at Home' survey. 24,000 people can't be wrong.
The local amenities in Chester were ranked the second-best in the country, and were considered to be more than satisfactory compared to other areas.
York ranked second in the region for its happiness, flying the flag for the north of England.
Of the top five, Ipswich ranked best for ‘value’, where residents do not feel the need to worry about the value of their property.
The second happiest place to live in the UK lies along the Welsh border. Shrewsbury consistently ranked first in the region for the survey categories.
“It is no surprise to the residents and visitors to our town that Harrogate has been voted the happiest place live in the UK for the third year running.” Councillor Richard Cooper, Leader of Harrogate Borough Council, said. “Harrogate really does have it all with its wonderful Georgian architecture, wide open green spaces, band concerts in the Valley Gardens, its Theatre, Restaurants and Shops – and of course Betty’s Tearooms for a real Yorkshire cream tea”.
There you have it, Harrogate has the most happy inhabitants in the UK. The survey looked at factors such as décor, value and pride as well as more practical desirables such as area upkeep, safety and amenities.
