Environmental, social and governance – or ESG – is a framework designed to help stakeholders take a holistic view of how an organisation is addressing and managing risks related to ESG criteria. For the investment community, ESG is often used to evaluate the sustainability of an organisation’s operations. However, other key groups, such as clients, partners and employees, are also taking an increased interest in ESG and the related criteria.

As ESG continues its mainstream evolution, regulators, investors and shareholders are demanding greater accountability. Organisations are becoming more consumed with complying with ESG standards, but the deluge of data across its many fronts is a challenge that must be addressed.

It’s time to dig deeper into the historical data gaps. The priority is to understand how to select the right ESG framework that will support what the business needs to measure, while having real-time access to data that is audit-ready. For firms that focus on alternative investments, the intensity of data volume and flow can be overwhelming.

Dynamo Software, a fintech with more than twenty years’ experience working with general partner (GP) and limited partner (LP) clients, is up to the challenge. Dynamo has the industry expertise and commitment to ensure the critical capabilities required for ESG and responsible investing are front and centre, and continuously adapts and scales its cloud-based alternative investment platform in lockstep with changing industry standards.

Dynamo’s ESG & Impact module is a framework-agnostic suite of tools to help both GPs and LPs in three core areas: gathering data, onboarding managing companies and calculating KPIs to evaluate fund and portfolio performance against targets. “A lot of GPs, not just in the impact side anymore, but across all responsible investing, want to make a difference,” says Danielle Pepin, Dynamo Head of Product PMV. “So, when they evaluate companies, they also want to see changes over time. Dynamo helps clients record that and set their intentions. We assist clients in picking a framework that helps them get started on data collection. And then, on the LP side, we make sense of that firehose of information.”

Dynamo’s product team continues to stay close to regulations and updates,  and rely heavily on organic feedback from clients, says Pepin. She stresses that knowledge is critical, but that having a tech stack that can scale with massive data requirements is just as important. Dynamo offers both.
